NOTE: I had another post planned but this one was more important.
I know there has been some controversy about this challenge because at first sight its just a bunch of people "jumping on the bandwagon" by making videos showing them dumping ice cold water (emphasis on the ice) and challenging some of their friends to do the same. Sadly this is where some people end their involvement, the video and getting likes. Officially, if you do the challenge you are supposed to donate $10 and if you don't then the donation is $100, but does everyone know/do this? Who knows! Many people have complained/expressed that all of this is doing nothing but the truth is that awareness is something...many people are donating along with the challenge and donations to ALS are increasing since this challenge was started (btw do any of you know who actually started this?)

It all started when some friends of one of Pete’s buddies in New York, Patt Quinn, invited Pete—a former Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2012 at the age of 27—to take on the ice bucket challenge. Pat, like Pete, has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness, loss of the use of arms and legs, and problems with speaking, breathing, and swallowing. When Pete posted his own video challenging others to participate, the stunt went viral with everyone from the Boston Police Department to the New York Giants enthusiastically dousing themselves with water.

People have said "I still don't know what ALS is, so much for awareness"...well have you bothered to look it up? Cuz I typed it into Google and found tons of information really easily. Maybe all the haters and complainers should check ALS out before they say that all these videos are for pointless likes and don't actually make a difference. This challenge is spreading like wildfire across social media and has even stretched to Hollywood and the NFL...if people can still find a way to think these videos aren't doing anything, then they just aren't paying attention.
