In case you forgot or for some reason never knew the amazingness that is DCOM's....DisneyChannelOriginalMovie
So this morning I turned on my TV and since I didn't remember what channel I left it on, I was surprised to see a DCOM from the early 2000's on.
It was "Motocrossed", you know that one where the tomboy who loves racing takes her fraternal twin brother's place in the big motocrossed competition and falls for another rider.
(Boy twin = Andrew "Andy" Carson, Girl twin = Andrea "Andy" Carson)
Growing up we 90's kids had the older DCOM's and the early 2000's DCOM's and we see the difference between them and the DCOM's that the milleniums have grown up watching.
Some of the more recent movies have a focus on boys specifically (How to Build a Better Boy, Zapped) and popularity (Frenemies, Geek Charming). To me personally it feels like there might be one or two DCOM's that get my attention per year compared to back in say the early 2000's where i wanted to see and saw every movie that came out those years. Then again this could be because I was younger and watched the Disney Channel religiously as opposed to now where I only watch it occasionally when I am bored.
There were some very powerful messages in some of the older DCOM's (some of my personal favorites include The Color of Friendship, Tiger Cruise, Tru Confessions). All in all it's probably just a different time therefore the movies have to adjust to the children/preteens/teens watching them.
(I also have strong feelings about the Disney Channel TV shows but that's a discussion for another day lol)
