Remember in my About section when I mentioned that I get obsessed with tv shoes, books series etc. Well that has been repeatedly proved 100% true. I have read part or all of so many series' throughout the past year (moreso this summer). I also read really fast so that helps (like 7 books in 3 weeks fast lol). I'll try and stick to one specific book series in this post although I could prob talk (write) for hours about books.
So anyway, when I finished the last series I was obsessed with (The Mortal Instruments) and it's prequel series (The Infernal Devices), I told myself that I was going to take a reading break but then I looked at my bookcase and saw this series just sitting there. You see back when I was younger and didn't have to worry about money, I bought the first 4 books of the series but over the years I only got part way through the first book and never tackled the others (I also was in school which didn't leave a lot of time for fun reading...which might also be why I've gone kind of book crazy since being done with school. I only thought about the series because I now work at Barnes & Noble and constantly see the last 2 books and get tempted to read them.
The series is the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter and it's a really good series, I highly recommend it (girl power!) It's about this school for female spies in training and the main character Cammie who struggles when she has the chance to be a regular girl. You can find high action kick-butt girls throughout this series. |
I can't wait to finish the series and hopefully this post leads to some young girl discovering this awesome series and falling in love with it like I have. It was optioned for a movie with Disney since Disney Hypherion published the book series by the time ran out. From what I've read, it is currently being looked into and I really hope it goes through. This is the kind of series we need for our pre-teens that isn't the teenage angst/romance wonderfulness that is dominating the movie screens (not that there's anything wrong with them) just this is a happy balance between action and girl power with a bit of romance thrown in and hello its about a kick-butt secret spy academy for girls! What more could you want in a series?
